Why Chelsea should sign £35m Bournemouth star

Chelsea have been linked with Callum Wilson of Bournemouth in recent days, and while some have raised eyebrows about such a player, it could be a brilliant move for us.

In terms of economics, he’s more of a bargain bin buy than someone like Mauro Icardi obviously, but that’s the point. He only needs to be a stopgap player for the second half of this season. If we buy him for £35m as has been suggested in the Sun this week, we would still easily be able to sell him on for a good chunk of that.

He looks well suited as an all round forward to Sarri’s style, and just has to do better than Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata – not exactly a high bar. Then we can bring in a top name if one becomes available this summer, and sell on the homegrown talent if we deem it necessary.

It just seems like a deal we can’t really lose on right now.
