Chelsea set to test Barcelona’s resolve with strong bid for attacking midfielder

Chelsea could land Denis Suarez from Barcelona in the coming transfer windows if Maurizio Sarri gets his wishes, according to a report by Marca.

The Spanish press says the Blues are interested in signing the youngster from Catalonia with Sarri having given away his admiration for the midfielder while at Napoli. Metro Sport confirms the Italian tactician wanted to sign the Spain international to the Napoli squad when he introduced the famed ‘Sarriball’ in Serie A.

Suarez is currently not the first choice for his position at Barcelona and is drawing interest from Valencia. The La Liga team want to sign the former Sevilla attacker next summer per the report by Marca.

But Sarri has told his top hierarchy at Stamford Bridge to begin a chase for his long-term target as he bids to improve Chelsea’s chances of finding goals in the seasons to come. The report also indicates that the Blues might struggle to keep Mateo Kovacic next summer and Suarez will be an ideal replacement for the Croat.
