Chelsea manager has Maurizio Sarri has effectively decided on his trusted back four for this season, with Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger, Gary Cahill and Marcos Alonso all featuring regularly for his side.
The Blues are in fine form, sitting third in the Premier League standings, qualified for the knockout phase of the Europa League with two games to spare and also into the last 16 stage of the Carabao Cup. Sarri’s methods and decisions on players are almost unquestionable at the moment.
That means fringe players like Cahill will struggle to make their complaints heard in the minds of the top hierarchy, even if some of those strolling in the high echelons of Stamford Bridge would prefer to keep him.
To find more game time, the former England international has to move from the club. He has a number of options available to him to select from in the transfer windows to come, but Metro Sport says Manchester United are interested now, and that Jose Mourinho’s side will make a move for him in the New Year.
Other clubs also interested in signing the former Bolton Wanderers center back are Southampton, West Ham, Aston Villa, and Sheffield Wednesday, according to those same reports.
