Alvaro Morata could suffer confidence crash after missing glorious chance from inches out on Spain duty

Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata has not helped his newfound confidence after a poor outing for Spain against Croatia in the UEFA Nations League match on Thursday night.

The striker is slowly becoming the player most Chelsea fans expected when he signed from Real Madrid in the summer of 2017. He has failed to live up to his costly price tag and constantly produces bad outings that create outrage on social media.

Away from the bright light of the media in the Nations League, Morata missed a sitter for Spain. He was found by a wayward ball after a save by Daniel Subasic and with an open net in front of him, Morata managed to head the ball softly to the arms of the returning goalkeeper.

Tim Brannigan, a football fan, was left in awe of Morata’s profligacy.

He does himself no good with that miss after his last showing for Chelsea proved, again, costly for the Blues. His failed attempts meant Maurizio Sarri’s side would not find their ninth win in the Premier League this season after matchday 12 although continuing a fine unbeaten start to the campaign.

He needs a goal or two on international duty before his fragile confidence is shattered once more.
