“Slavery was abolished a long time ago” – Former Real Madrid president takes the public propaganda route to unsettle Eden Hazard

Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has begun a public outcry for Chelsea to release Eden Hazard if the players demand to leave next summer.

Hazard has embarked on a truth-telling campaign in press conferences lately with his public admission that he wants to join Los Blancos next summer. That has sparked a lot of talk in the media that the player will most certainly join Real Madrid next year.

However, a recent report by HLN in Belgium says Hazard and his representatives have been informed by Chelsea of a sit-down meeting to discuss the player’s future at the club and the Blues ready to offer a staggering £300,000-per week to the player to convince him to stay put.

But adding his voice to the speculations is former Real president Ramon Calderon. Calderon calls Hazard the player who can inherit the best player title from Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo but admonishes Chelsea to let him leave if his heart is set on the move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

“There’s no point to having a player who wants to go, slavery was abolished a long time ago. It depends what Chelsea wants to do, then it’s just a question of money between Chelsea and Madrid. If a player insists on doing on what he is publicly saying it will be difficult for Chelsea to keep him and for Real Madrid it will be fantastic news.

I see Hazard as a player after Cristiano Ronaldo and [Lionel] Messi’s time. He is the player that will receive from them the inheritance of being the best player in the world.”
