Player Ratings: Chelsea underwhelm despite three goal showing

Chelsea beat Derby in a truly strange game at Stamford Bridge, and there were some pretty solid performances all round.

Largely the team performed well given the circumstances: an almost fully rotated team thrown together to take on a really motivated and organised Derby team.

Gary Cahill had a pretty shocking game at the back, and it wouldn’t be much surprise if it was one of his last starts in Blue. Emerson was also all too easily opened up by Derby.

In midfield Cesc Fabregas was pretty average, but scored the winning goal. Kante was a consistent presence as ever and Kovacic tidy but a little limited.

Up front Alvaro Morata had one of his anonymous days and Willian was as inconsistent as ever. Ruben showed really bright flashes but was pretty clearly not 100% comfortable playing out of position.

Christensen: 6

Cahill: 5

Emerson: 5
