Paul Pogba admits Chelsea star is one of few favorites for Ballon d’Or award

Manchester United star Paul Pogba has admitted his France teammate and Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante is one of the favorites to win the Ballon d’Or.

Kante has remained consistent for club and country throughout the last few years, playing superbly in his role as a destructive midfielder. For France, Kante was one of the key stars as they raced to the 2018 World Cup triumph. Despite not being as flamboyant and free-scoring as most of the players on France’s representation list, the 27-year old remains a key candidate.

Pogba says there are three or four players capable of winning the Ballon d’Or award from the France team and Kante cannot be listed outside of the top four.

“I’m not going to get into it, whether it’s [Antoine] Griezmann, Kylian [Mbappe] or Raphael [Varane] who deserve it much more than me.

I can’t pick one of them, but I sincerely hope it’ll be one of those three, or even four because there’s also NG ([N’Golo Kante].”
