Former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte lined up for sensational Manchester United move

Ex Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte has emerged one of the favorites to take up the Manchester United role as manager if Jose Mourinho is sacked in the coming days.

According to Italian newspaper Corriere Dello Sport, via the Sun, Man United boss Mourinho is under intense pressure and should he leave his post, Conte is one of the top coaches the Old Trafford hierarchy are looking to bring in.

The Italian coach endured a torrid time at Stamford Bridge last season, leading to his sack in the summer. The Blues had finished the season fifth in the Premier League standings while also failing to win any other trophy except the FA Cup. That triumph in the final was over Manchester United at Wembley stadium.

The Chelsea chiefs were not impressed with his performance or his relationship with key players and made the decision to replace him with Maurizio Sarri. Conte had also replaced Mourinho at the club only two seasons before after the Portuguese failed to replicate a title-winning success in 2015.

The Italian may be set to replace Mourinho again, this time at Old Trafford, as the report insists Conte is considered a good option to save United’s failing season.
