Diego Simeone wants Chelsea star to join Atletico Madrid for free next summer

Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas could be on his way to Atletico Madrid if the lure of playing in the La Liga is enough to get him to sign the dotted lines next summer.

There’s currently no offer on the table for Fabregas who has yet to play consecutive games under Maurizio Sarri this season. His talent is undisputed, but Chelsea’s new manager prefers to go with Jorginho in the position Fabregas would be most suited to, therefore reducing his game time drastically. He now falls behind Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante as the Blues first choice midfielders in a 4-3-3 system.

Atletico Madrid want to offer Fabregas the opportunity to return to Spain and play more in a side that will compete for the title with Barcelona and Real Madrid.

The Mirror suggests Atletico want to sign him on a free transfer when his contract runs out next summer, but all could depend on Chelsea who are yet to submit an offer to the former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder.

The 31-year old is open to staying at Chelsea beyond this season after admitting he loves to play under Sarri, who has introduced free-flowing attacking football at Stamford Bridge.
