Maurizio Sarri is currently blessed with a wealth of top talent in Chelsea’s midfield as the Italian tactician endures a rather positive headache ahead of matches.
The Blues have a variety of in-form players at the moment, competing for a spot in the preferred three-man midfield this season. The likes of Jorginho and N’Golo Kante are expected to keep their positions in the first team but the third spot has been blown wide open for Mateo Kovacic, Ross Barkley, and Ruben Loftus Cheek. At the current rate, any of them can make that spot theirs.
Barkley and Loftus-Cheek’s fine form in front of goal makes them good bets to step up, but the general clean performance Kovacic gives Sarri makes him a favorite, for now.
After last Saturday’s dominant win over Burnley, I put up a question on Twitter, asking Chelsea fans who should start among the seven options Sarri has this season, and Barkley has become an overwhelming favorite:
