3 Positives from Chelsea’s impressive draw with Livepool

Chelsea drew 1-1 with Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, a good result that felt worse than it was because of the way we conceded a late equaliser. Here are the biggest positives to take from the entertaining game against our title rivals:

+Growing stability. Chelsea have started the season very well in attack; but with question marks about their defence. In this game they looked more solid than ever against one of Europe’s most threatening attacks, with Antonio Rudiger and David Luiz both outstanding.

+The progressive left. All the talk before the game was about Liverpool’s deadly front three, but it was Chelsea’s left flank that was the real star patch of pitch. With Marcos Alonso bombing forward, Eden Hazard dropping deep and Mateo Kovacic pulling out wide to that side, it’s no wonder Trent Alexander-Arnold couldn’t get forward much.

+Kepa gets his hands warm. People trying to judge Chelsea’s summer business have had a hard time with the new goalie, who’s barely been tested as we’ve dominated against bad teams in the early stages of this season. Against the Reds he was finally given a serious test, and he showed exactly what he can do.
