Chelsea winger Pedro has been comparing his former manager Pep Guardiola with his current one, Maurizio Sarri.
You can read more of his quotes here, but essentially he’s talking about the pressing high up the pitch that both managers employ. He says that while they ran a lot under Antonio Conte, that was more in a deep compact block, and now they’re pushing higher up to win the ball back = just as Guardiola’s teams do.
“Sarri and Guardiola are very similar, their tactical ideas are the same.”
Pedro was excellent under Guardiola and he’s proving very effective in Sarri’s system too. His work rate and speed makes him ideal to press high up the pitch, and when played in behind on the counter he’s got a good eye for goal too.
That’s why he will be a big loss if he can’t play against West Ham tomorrow because of the shoulder injury he picked up in the final moments of the game against PAOK.
