Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s next start could be weeks away after latest blow

Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s season is going from bad to worse.

The midfielder hurt himself on England duty, and missed out against PAOK when he was expected to play.

Now his second chance for a start this season looks like it’s going to come and go. The Telegraph are reporting that he won’t be fit for the Carabao Cup game on Wednesday.

That’s a real blow, and with Cesc Fabregas now back and fit, Loftus-Cheek faces an increasingly uphill battle to even get on the pitch.

The good news is that Ross Barkley has been playing well in his starts and sub appearances, and he will get the chance to shine against his old rivals Liverpool.

After this it’s just not clear where Ruben’s next chance will come from. He’s just stuck waiting on the bench hoping from an injury. Fabregas is back in to support Jorginho, Barkley is battling Mateo Kovacic – does that mean Loftus-Cheek in N’Golo Kante’s backup?
