Official: Only two Chelsea players included in the 2018 FIFA FIFPro World 11 55-man shortlist

Chelsea duo Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kante have been included in the 55-man shortlist of the 2018 FIFA Best 11 as released by FIFA on Monday.

The Blues could have had three players on the tall list had Thibaut Courtois not left the club this summer for Real Madrid this summer. The goalkeeper’s departure means the Blues only have Hazard and Kante on that list of world-class players.

The best 11 of these 55 men shortlisted will be the final best players selected by professional footballers from across the globe.

Kante, for his enterprising displays in midfield for Chelsea in the past 12 months, winning the FA Cup under Antonio Conte as a defensive midfielder and also helping France win the 2018 World Cup in Russia, is one of the 14 midfielders selected from across the world. The category also has Hazard in there after his performances for Chelsea and particularly Belgium at the World Cup. He was voted the tournament’s second-best players behind Luka Modric.

On September 24, The final FIFA FIFPro World11 2018 will be revealed at the Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony.
