“Morata more suitable for the other” – Maurizio Sarri confirms which of his two strikers will start against PAOK

Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri has a wealth of talent to pick from, and the striking department this season offers him a positive dilemma, as the Italian believes the different qualities his two strikers bring unto the table, means both will have a fair run-out this season.

The Blues have remained perfect in the Premier League this season, and have looked particularly strong in the attacking phase of the game, scoring goals for fun, although their strikers, Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud have scored only one goal between them in the five games played.

Giroud was picked by Sarri in the Blues encounter with Cardiff last Saturday and combined very well with Eden Hazard as the Belgian scored three goals in the game. His first two goals were assisted by the France international.

But Morata will return to the side on Thursday to face PAOK as Sarri thinks he is more suited to the opponent than Giroud is.

“I don’t know [who will be the Premier League starter in the future]. In the last two weeks I have seen four matches of Cardiff and four matches of PAOK Salonika and for me, yesterday I thought Giroud was more suitable for this match and Morata more suitable for the other.”
