There’s always something Chelsea fans aren’t happy about – if it’s not the players on the pitch it’s the players on the bench, if it’s not the players on the bench it’s the players left off the bench.
That was the case in today’s game against West Ham, when the lineup on the bench caused moans in some sections of the fanbase.
When the team news was announced, there were a few predictable tweaks to the first team – the return of Olivier Giroud and Eden Hazard for example, but it was some of the names on the bench that caused consternation in some circles.
Andreas Christensen was sensational in midweek against PAOK, and he was left off the bench in favour of Gary Cahill. It was the same story with Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who wasn’t even on the bench as the returning Cesc Fabregas came in.
Fans are loving Sarri’s work so far, but this is one thing guaranteed to get on their nerves.
