Mason Mount steals the show at the Theatre of Dreams

You can barely turn on a TV these days without seeing Mason Mount tearing up a game somewhere in the English game, such is the quantity of games played in the Championship.

It seems every night of the week the young loanee is somewhere in the country scoring or assisting.

Last night was no different, except it was in the cup, meaning he got to do his thing against top flight opposition. He had Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United in his sights, and while his manager Frank Lampard was all smiles and hugs with the Portuguese on the touchline, Mason didn’t show so much respect.

Minutes in he raked a superb pass through two lines of players to almost set Jack Marriott up. It was later his saved shot that lead to the Derby second goal, and he capped it off by belting the opening penalty of the shootout into the top corner.

This is not going to be his last match winning performance at Old Trafford, we’re calling it now.
