Liverpool’s summer transfer thinks Chelsea made a mistake with Bakayoko… and it wasn’t just signing him

After being battered by their own fans for most of the summer, Chelsea haven’t been taking to much flak recently.

That’s what four wins on the spin will do for you. Maurizio Sarri’s men are marching on, and the woes of last season and this summer are firmly being put behind us.

There are still some lingering legacies however – Tiemoue Bakayoko being one of them. We’ve loaned him out to AC Milan after a bad debut campaign, although his former Monaco teammate Fabinho isn’t entirely sure it was as bad as everyone says.

Football.London have quotes from the midfielder, who said “I don’t think Bakayoko] struggled that much, I watched a few games and he seemed always good to me.”

Clearly he wasn’t playing too much attention to some fixtures, the legendary Watford match in particular. But he has a point – Bakayoko was thrown in at the deep end in a difficult situation, and we’ve not cut the cord on him.

It’s not the ideal way to run a club, but when you’re top of the league, you’re hard to criticise.
