Why Jorginho cannot finish the entire season with the same quality that has wowed Chelsea fans early on

Chelsea have shown one thing this early season, the team cannot do without Jorginho at the center of the park even in the smallest of games.

Against PAOK in the Europa League, many expected Maurizio Sarri to rotate his squad and that probably meant key players like Jorginho would get a rest, but exactly the opposite happened in the Italian’s case.

The central midfielder was kept at the base of the three-man midfield along with another regular N’Golo Kante and Ross Barkley. While the likes of David Luiz, Mateo Kovacic, and Eden Hazard were left out of the trip to rest, Jorginho, arguably the player who makes the team tick in the new attacking and fluid style under Sarri, traveled and lasted the entire game.

What makes it so difficult to rotate Jorginho? His position is a special one in the 4-3-3 system as he is the player who begins attacks and dictates the direction of those attacks and at the moment, not many midfielders can play as efficiently as him in that role.

That does not bode well for the former Napoli midfielder this season, as Chelsea will need him fully fit for the remainder of the games but he cannot be. He cannot sustain himself the entire season playing every game from the Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, and the Europa League.
