“I’m not injured…” Chelsea player deletes Tweet after hinting at problems behind the scenes

After last night’s game, Emerson Palmieri posted the following Tweet, which has since been deleted:

The full back didn’t travel to Greece, where he was expected to start, meaning Marcos Alonso had to play another 65 minutes.

The word yesterday was that the fever that Maurizio Sarri had mentioned Emerson having before last weekend’s game was affecting him.

The Tweet above denies that Palmieri is injured, but perhaps he’s drawing a distinction between injured and ill – that is to say “don’t worry guys, I’m just sick not injured!”

Of course the malicious way of reading it is him saying “I’m not injured/ill… I wanted to be picked”. We just don’t know, it’s so easy to be misinterpreted, especially when a playerr isn’t even necessarily writing in their first language.

What we do know for sure is that deleting a Tweet only makes things seem worse…

Overall though there shouldn’t be too much to worry about. There’s no reason to think that he was left out for anything other than fitness reasons, fow now.
