Chelsea have one loan star already at Derby County this season, but it could have been two, according to the Derby boss Frank Lampard.
They got Mason Mount, who’s been a star for them already, but Lampard revealed in his press conference today that the midfielder wasn’t the only player he tried to get from his old club this summer:
“I looked at him (Ampadu). I spoke to the Chelsea manager and he told me he wants him in their squad, so it was a very short conversation,” Lampard told the Metro.
You can be sure that the new Rams boss wasn’t the only one looking at the Welshman. After proving his quality in the first team last season, you can be certain that a host of clubs would have been interested in his services, right up to Premier League sides.
But Maurizio Sarri obviously likes what he sees,and wants to see more of it – and so do we.
