Details revealed of Chelsea’s failed Inter Milan swap deal

Chelsea tried to sign Inter midfielder Matias Vecino this summer, and CalcioMercato have some pretty interesting claims about the contents of the deal.

They say that Davide Zappacosta was going to be offered as part of the deal, and that Vecino turned it down because he wants the chance to play in the Champions League.

That’s fair enough, but it’s worrying to think that there are probably plenty of other players who we’ve missed out on in recent years because of our lack of European status.

We’re off to a great start this season even without Vecino though, and it’s just down to this team to ensure we’re back at the top table next season.

Perhaps Vecino will reconsider next summer? Our midfield is pretty stocked now, but if we can’t keep hold of Mateo Kovacic, perhaps we could swoop again – this time with the backing of Champions League status once again.
