Chelsea were linked with Aleksandr Mitrovic in the week, and the Serbian did his case further good work in today’s early kick-off against Watford.
The target man lead from the front for Fulham as they mounted a second half comeback, and got on the scoresheet again to continue his hot streak at the start of this new season.
This time he displayed a real poacher’s instinct to nip in behind the Watford defenders and turn in Luciano Vietto’s square ball.
We all know that Mitrovic has the size and physicality to be a very god targetman, but it’s this instictive eye for goal that makes him a cut above. While his linkup play and technical ability isn’t quite on a par with Olivier Giroud, he does have a knack of finding the knack that the Frenchman lacks.
Giroud has scored prolifically over the years, but that’s at top teams, and he’s never been a real goal machine. Mitrovic could be the perfect player to come in and back up the Frenchman, and learn from his experience.
