But a quick look at next week’s fixtures shows you that the Blues have a superb chance to go clear at the top.
Chelsea face Cardiff, while our competitors face much tougher sides. The other two teams up beaten at the top are Liverpool, who have Tottenham; and Watford, who have Manchester United.
That means there’s a good chance that one of the two, or perhaps both, with slip, and leave Chelsea in an increasing lead at the top.
There’s a long way to go in this season, and even most Chelsea fans aren’t expecting us to be a contender in May, but the longer we stay in the hunt the better our Champions League prospects.
We can’t write off Cardiff yet, but there were moments against Arsenal last week where they looked genuinely schoolboy at the back. If Eden Hazard and co. are fit and firing they’ll have no chance.
