Cesc Fabregas could have Sarri-ball Renaissance after return from injury

Cesc Fabregas made his return to the Chelsea first team fold yesterday, coming on as a second half sub for Jorginho.

It marks his return from a niggling injury, described as being near his knee but not in his knee by his manager Maurizio Sarri, and his first minutes of the season.

It’s a relief to have him back. A fit Fabregas might have started ahead of Jorginho today and give him a rest. While he won’t be in the first choice midfield three, he’s the natural alternative for the Brazilian born summer signing.

In fact, playing that quarterback role in Sarri’s team may suit Cesc, and there’s a chance we will get an Indian summer of sorts from the Spaniard, who looked like he might depart in the summer.

He’s no longer a key starter for us, but he can still be a vital cog as a rotation option in what could be a long and hard season.
