£17 million Chelsea signing signals bitterness after being dropped against PAOK

Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri has hinted at his frustration after he was dropped against PAOK in the Blues Europa League win on Thursday.

The Italy left full-back was left out of Chelsea final 18-man squad on Thursday with no explanation given by the head coach who had signaled before the game, that most players will be left disappointed with his selections in the coming months as he cannot utilize the entire 25-man squad this season.

Emerson has struggled to break into the Chelsea team with Marcos Alonso in top form and starting all five Premier League games this season. The Spain international has contributed significantly to Chelsea’s attack and has been a decent outlet in defense as well. That has reduced the chances of Palmieri in this star-studded Chelsea side.

Against PAOK, most of Chelsea fringe players expected to have a chance and alongside Emerson, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ethan Ampadu also failed to make the 18-man squad and the former revealed in a tweet that he was not injured as some may have contemplated but has since deleted that tweet, fueling speculation that he is frustrated at being dropped against the Greek side.
