Thibaut Courtois already attempting to fix burnt bridges at Madrid after giving apology to Real fans

Former Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has apologized to Real Madrid fans for his involvement in offensive chants towards his current club while he was at Atletico Madrid.

Courtois spent three seasons in La Liga while a Chelsea player, after signing a three-year loan deal to join Diego Simeone’s side, with competition for places too hot for him at the time at Chelsea.

While at Atletico, Courtois made  himself some friends and enemies in equal measure. His Atletico fans loved him due to his calm persona and commanding displays in the posts, but his cross city rivals disliked him for some of his actions. That included joining fans to chant against his new employers.

The Belgium international quickly apologized to his new fans for his behavior in the past, saying his actions was due to the fact he was young.

“At that time I was very young,” he said to reporters. I let myself go for the moment, but I asked for forgiveness as it’s not typical of me. I will give everything for the shield of Madrid.”
