Referee appointed for Chelsea game against Arsenal could spell doom for the Blues this weekend

Chelsea would have fancied their chances against Arsenal in their second Premier League game of the season, especially as the Blues won their opening game convincingly against Huddersfield while the Gunners shipped two goals in their season opener against Manchester City.

But the odds may have shifted in favor of Arsenal after Martin Atkinson was appointed the man to handle decisions in the course of the game.

Atkinson was the man in charge of the whistle when Chelsea lost three games last season under Antonio Conte, while conversely he was in charge for an Arsenal win and and another game between the sides that ended in a draw last season under Arsene Wenger.

As both London sides face off this weekend in another Premier League blockbuster, Chelsea fans present at Stamford Bridge will hope they find their second win of the season and their first in four games with Atkinson as the match official.
