Official: Victor Moses retires from international football at just 27

Chelsea winger Victor Moses has retired from international football at age 27.

The Nigeria international will no longer wear the green and white colors of the West African side after a seven year illustrous career. Moses made his debut for Nigeria in February 2011 against Guatemala and has gone on to make 37 appearances for the Super Eagles, scoring 12 goals.

Moses tweeted his retirement on Wednesday, revealing his love for Nigeria while thanking the fans for their support over the years.

“I have experienced some of the best moments of my life wearing the Super Eagles shirt and have memories with me that will last  a lifetime.

“However I feel that now is the right time to step away in order to be able to focus fully on club career and my young family as well as to allow the next generation of Super Eagle stars the opportunity to step up and to flourish.”

Among Moses’ achievements are the 2013 African Cup of Nations victory and helping Nigeria to the 2014 and 2018 World Cup tournaments.

H was part of Maurizio Sarri’s squad that faced Huddersfield and was introduced in the second half of the game last Saturday.
