Official: Tiemoue Bakayoko signs for AC Milan on season long loan deal

Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has signed for AC Milan on a season long loan deal after lasting only one season in England.

The combative midfielder signed from AS Monaco to Chelsea last summer, but has struggled to find his best form at the club and has now been shipped off to the Serie A with Milan very keen on him all summer.

The deal was announced by AC Milan’s official Twitter account on Tuesday with a headline ‘another important signing in the club’s new era’. He will join the top Serie A side and hope for more minutes than he would have had at Stamford Bridge this season, after he fell behind the pecking order at the club under new manager Maurizio Sarri.

Bakayoko was deemed surplus to requirements by Chelsea who now have a wealth of talent to play with across all competitions with Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic coming in this summer to provide competition for Cesc Fabregas, N’Golo Kante, Ross Barkley and Danny Drinkwater at the club.

There will be an official unveiling of the 23-year old at the Milan club on Friday.
