Michy Batshuayi’s Valencia move is a risky one for the forward desperate for minutes

Michy Batshuayi has joined Valencia on loan this afternoon, the BBC  have confirmed.

Many fans wanted the forward to stay at fight for his place in the first team this season, but in the end he’s been seen as the odd one out of Maurizio Sarri’s four forwards.

Valencia are a really interesting destination for the Belgian. They had a couple of disastrous seasons, but the appointment of Marcelino in the summer of 2017 has helped turn things round, and they looked very good at times last season.

With another summer of transfers under his belt, including the import of Batshuayi himself, the Spanish coach will be hoping to improve that team even more.

The downside for Batshuayi at first is the strength of the competition in Spain. Rodrigo Moreno and Simone Zaza both had excellents seasons last time out, and there are a wealth of attacking midfield options in the team too.

But if Michy can force his way into the team, he’ll be perfectly set up to score lots of goals.
