Chelsea fans may be impatient when it comes to the new players their club secured this summer, particularly Mateo Kovacic, who is yet to make his debut among the new signings.
Kovacic arrived from Real Madrid this summer and has not been used yet by Maurizio Sarri largely due to the time he arrived at the club this summer. The 25-year old was a late arrival in the transfer window, as part of the deal to sell Thibaut Courtois to Real.
He has began training with his teammates but failed to make the squad against Huddersfield in Chelsea’s first Premier League match this season.
Jorginho, N’Golo Kante and Ross Barkley made the squad in the first game, but many believe Kovacic can displace the latter in the three-man midfield this season.
Sarri in his first press conference ahead of his first outing at Stamford Bridge in a competitive game says fans may have to wait a little while before seeing their new man play 90 minutes this season as this weekend may have come too early for him.
Sarri on Kovacic's chances: "Mateo will be very useful for us. He is a very technical player. In this moment he has to work, I think he is not ready now for 90 minutes, but maybe tomorrow for the last 30 minutes he could be used. I expect a lot from him.He is a great player" #CFC
