“I’ve come to Valencia to play more than four Champions League games,”

Michy Batshuayi has spoken for the first time since joining Valencia on loan from Chelsea.

The striker has it all to prove after being left out by another manager, and he’s hoping that under Marcelino on the Spanish coast he can show exactly what he did at Borussia Dortmund in the second half of last season: that he’s a quality forward who should be given a proper shot at the first team at Stamford Bridge.

He’s spoke about what took him to Valencia – and playing in the Champions League factors into that. It’s easy to forget that he’s going from a club in Europe’s second competition, to one at the top table.

But as Michy says, he’s not just there to play a few games and make up the numbers. He wants to help them make waves.

You can see his quotes from the unveiling here, as recorded by ESPN, here:

“I’ve come to Valencia to play more than four Champions League games… I think Marcelino’s style adapts very well to mine — together we can do something big. There were clubs bidding for my services, but having spoken to Marcelino, he convinced me to come.”
