Why Chelsea’s game against Arsenal tonight is more than just a friendly

Chelsea are preparing for their penultimate preseason game with two wins already under their belt.

A comfortable win against semi-amateurs Perth Glory was hardly challenging, a win against Inter on penalties was much tougher, and Arsenal will present a whole new level again tonight.

The Gunners are looking very bright under new manager Unai Emery, who’s been in charge long enough to have a real impact, especially with plenty of transfer business getting done by the club early doors.

This is only a friendly, but after losing our good record against the Gunners in two seasons under Antonio Conte, it would be fantastic to grab a win and try and reestablish the dominance we had for so many years previously.

They’re no joke any more, with some serious signings and a good coach in charge now. The result tonight doesn’t mean much on the pitch, but it could count for a lot if it starts to swing the balance of power.
