Chelsea midfielder completes Italian move

Tiemoue Bakayoko has completed his loan move to AC Milan, the official Chelsea website has confirmed.

The midfielder has made a temporary move, but the Italian club has the option of making the deal permanent for £35m.

That’s less than what Chelsea paid Monaco for his services, but that’s got to be considered a decent result given his disastrous spell at Stamford Bridge.

After a promising start, the Frenchman put in some truly dreadful showings after Christmas, and has now gone down as one of the worst signings in the club’s history.

In fact, until Jorginho’s arrival this summer, he was the club’s record midfielder purchase.

With the benefit of hindsight it was a disaster, but at the time he looked a great prospect to replace Nemanja Matic in Chelsea’s midfield. His powerful running looked like it would add a new dimension to Antonio Conte’s solid style, but it wasn’t to be.
