Chelsea are reportedly ready to let Danny Drinkwater leave this summer in search of more minutes with limited chances at the club this season, as hinted at by Maurizio Sarri’s choice of tactics and player selection.
The Blues are willing to let their 2017 summer signing leave on a permanent deal this summer, as competition for places in the current setup will make it difficult for him to get a look-in this season, as per the Daily Star.
Already, Chelsea boast a wealth of talent in the squad with Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic having been signed this summer to beef up their midfield.
Tiemoue Bakayoko has been let go in a season long loan deal to AC Milan this summer but there are still several other options for Sarri to pick from. N’Golo Kante and Jorginho seem the Italian’s best options this season in a three-man midfield, while Cesc Fabregas, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ross Barkley and Kovacic are the remaining players hoping to snatch the last midfield spot.
Sarri has said in the past, some of his midfielders may have to leave on loan after Bakayoko’s deal is done.
Sarri on his squad: "Now I think the squad is too large, so some players have to go on loan but I don’t know who. I prefer to have 23, 24 players & three, four very young players." Asked if Bakayoko could be one: "Maybe." #cfc

According to Nizaar Kinsella, Drinkwater has fallen behind in the pecking order and now lies beneath Loftus-Cheek in Sarri’s eyes.
Drinkwater now looks below the returning Loftus-Cheek in the pecking order… poor for all involved for him to come to west London. I can't see as European club paying his wages without a subsidy from Chelsea #CFC #HUDCHE
