“I think, in the next couple of days” – CSKA President gives important update to Chelsea capture of World Cup star

Chelsea’s transfer business may have kicked off late this summer but that may change in the ‘next couple of days’ after talks for one main target is set to conclude soon.

A deal has been reportedly agreed for Aleksander Golovin who has peaked in the last few months, most particularly, in the 2018 World Cup when he scored his first goal in the tournament in his country’s first game with Saudi Arabia.

The Blues remain hopeful of signing the CSKA star this summer as they seek to beef up their squad under Maurizio Sarri, with the Italian set to overhaul the Blues squad that failed to impress last season under Antonio Conte.

AS Monaco were reportedly in the lead to sign Golovin but Chelsea have moved into advanced negotiations for the attacker with a bid of £22m, as they seal the deal for the Russia international will offer options for Sarri in his Premier League debut campaign.

CSKA president Evgeniy Giner told Russian outlet Sport24, via Daily Mail, that the deal could be announced this week.

“In order not to ruin [Golovin] we must let him go. But we have no solution for today. When we receive an offer, we always try to negotiate openly. Indeed, we were visited by the vice-president of Monaco [Vadim Vasilyev] and made a proposal for Golovin.

Chelsea? There is no closed arrangement with them. But the question of his transition to another club will be decided, I think, in the next couple of days.”
