How Kurt Zouma could still change Sarri’s mind despite number snub

It was a bad omen for Kurt Zouma this week as he returned to Chelsea training only to see his number 5 shirt handed over to Jorginho.

It makes sense given the Italian’s position on the pitch, and the fact he’s a guaranteed started under Maurizio Sarri.

But it’s not a good sign for Zouma if he was looking to break back into the Chelsea team after a year out on loan at Stoke. In fact, it heavily points towards him being loaned again this coming season.

At least he has one thing going for him: one of the players to make the biggest impression under Sarri at Napoli was Kalidou Koulibaly, who’s even bigger than Zouma. Plenty would have doubted that he had the feet necessary to play in a system with such a high line and with so much passing involved.

K2 proved them wrong, and we’d back KZ to do the same.
