“I hope he comes to Real Madrid” – Spanish chief blatantly taps up Chelsea star for summer transfer

The president of La Liga Javier Tebas has made an unprecedented step earlier this week by declaring his hopes that Real Madrid would sign Thibaut Courtois.

It’s an outrageous bit of tapping up by a man who has shown he has few standards, and has been embroiled in a number of controversial incidents.

His quotes are carried here by the Twitter account of El Partidazo, the prime time sports radio show he was being interviewed on:

Translated, his statement runs:

“I hope he comes, he’s one of the best goalkeepers in the world.”

Tebas has few scruples, and clearly when it comes to annoying teams from other leagues he’s not too bothered.

The Madrid interest in Courtois has been well known for some time now, and many sources expect a deal to be done before in the near future.

It’s all dependent on Chelsea replacing the stopper, which may take some time given that their number one target Alisson has just joined Liverpool. Now both Thibaut and the club face a stressful few months working out their next move.
