Chelsea’s new signing explains how he will fit in to Sarri’s team

Chelsea fans have been hyped beyond belief about the arrival of Jorginho, and it’s not hard to understand why. It looked certain that the Brazilian born Italy international would be headed to Man City, until he decided to join the Blues at the last moment, along with former boss Maurizio Sarri.

Jorginho has now given his first interview in English, with the Daily Mail picking out some of the most interesting quotes.

“Perhaps my style of play is not something that is seen in England, I really hope that it is a good fit for the game over here and I will certainly be doing everything I can to make sure it works out,” he told them.

“I like playing just outside of my own penalty box, the player who receives the ball and organises the game.”

That’s something Chelsea have really lacked over the years. In Jon Obi Mikel we had a similar player, but one much more focused on defensive shape than quick passing; Cesc Fabregas was the opposite, generally too offensive minded and too physically lacking to play in front of the back four.

Jorginho should be the perfect balance, and he will be the lynchpin of the new style of football that Sarri is bringing to the club.
