Chelsea’s new season is already off to a bad start thanks to two things beyond their control

Chelsea have finally got their new manager in place, and now they must move quickly to get a competitive squad on the training pitch as soon as possible.

It will be a tactical switch to a totally different style of football, and will require time. Every day that the new signings are delayed will affect how long it takes the side to gel.

Bear in mind the early transfer window deadline this season too. This is a season where we really could have done with a bit of extra time, but instead we have less than normal.

Equally, it’s really tough for us that this is a World Cup summer. It affects other top teams equally, but for us, having the top players all on holiday in the crucial time remaining before the start of the season is a real blow.

The fact the team is flying to Australia for a one off game as we speak is just the cherry on top.
