Chelsea’s broken youngster dealt another cruel injury shock

Chelsea’s Marco Van Ginkel has had another awful blow to his career, as he underwent surgery to repair his knee again, according to the BBC.

The Dutch midfielder had just had the season of his career so far, captaining PSV to the title in Holland on loan, and looked set to finally be set to break out.

He was signed in 2013, and soon after picked up his first bad injury. He’s struggled to play consistently since, and has had loan spells at AC Milan and Stoke which didn’t really work out, but his spell back in his home country has been superb.

In total, he’s had just 4 appearances for Chelsea, and you can’t see that changing soon. He will have 8 months of rehab according to this piece, then return to rebuild his fitness towards the end of next season.

We wish him all the best recovering from this latest setback.
