Chelsea preparing to engage themselves in their latest embarrassing legal dispute

Chelsea finally today confirmed what has been known for 24 hours and has been suspected for almost a year: Antonio Conte is leaving the club.

Word spread on Twitter yesterday, and plenty of journalists and even Cesc Fabregas jumped the gun, thanking the erstwhile manager for his efforts before the club had even admitted he was going.

Now, at last, they’ve put up a post on Twitter to confirm it.

But this isn’t the end of the story. In fact, it could be the latest in a series of humiliating lawsuits the club will drag itself through.

The source of the issue is Conte’s severance pay. Matt Law, Chelsea correspondent of the Daily Telegraph, was already writing yesterday that Chelsea would claim that they can sack the Italian fairly, as he did enough to be sacked.

Clearly Conte will dispute this, and knowing his personality, he will fight it until the very end. This could just be the start.
