Chelsea leading race for one of the best central defenders in the world alongside PSG

Chelsea are said to be in ready to pounce for AC Milan defender Leonardo Bonucci but face competition from Paris Saint Germain.

Bonucci only left Juventus for AC Milan last summer and talk about leaving his new home would have been impossible just a few months ago, but situations have changed at the Serie A club and he might just be willing to leave now.

The central defender is on Chelsea’s radar and the Blues are currently leading the race to sign him according to Corriere dello Sport via Calciomercato. The newspaper on Friday suggests that incoming Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is well aware of the situation at Milan, with the club not in the best financial position having been caught in UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations and now stand a risk of being banned one year from the Europa League.

Sarri wants Chelsea to take advantage of this and prise Bonucci away. Calciomercato also points out that Manchester United are also keen on adding the star defender to their ranks this summer.
