Barcelona are a team to fear when N’Golo Kante’s name is brought up.
They are a big name, they have money, and they win trophies.
Chelsea’s status on all three counts is being questioned at the moment.
They clearly are exceptional compared to the average club – but are they enough to persuade a player to stay when the biggest teams around are interested?
In the case of Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois, it seems no. They both look set to leave this summer.
In the case of Kante, we don’t yet know, but while he’s seemed happy so far, he won’t stay forever if he doesn’t feel like he’s putting his career on the best possible track.
He hasn’t agitated yet, but with another year out the Champions League, he might feel that long term it’s in his best interest to move eventually.
We just have to hope we can seriously turn things around before then.
