Chelsea fans have been begging for signings all summer as they watched other clubs doing smart business. Now the team is about to spend some money, and many of them aren’t happy.

The man in question is Daniele Rugani. He’s been linked with Chelsea heavily in the last few weeks, and now is apparently on the verge of completing a move to London for a fee that the Metro report to be around £44m.
Why ?

That’s the sticking point. The argument that many Chelsea fans have against this move is not that Rugani is a bad player, but that centre back is a part of the field where we’re well covered, so spending up to €50m on a position of strength isn’t the smartest move.

There’s logic to that, and given Rugani is only coming to us because he can’t get anywhere near the Juventus team, you have to wonder what direction the club is going in if he gets automatic starts here.
