Ruben Loftus-Cheek trains separately from England squad after intense double-header

News agency Reuters are reporting that Ruben Loftus-Cheek is training separately from the rest of the England squad.

The midfielder is one of the few who has started both of England’s last two games, so he has apparently been put into a separate ” individual recovery” to help him cool down from what has been an intense few days.

He played the first game after Dele Alli’s injury, and then was thrown into action again Belgium with the B team. What that tells you is that Alli is probably ready to go against Colombia in the round of 16, meaning that RLC will drop back to the bench.

While he didn’t have his two best games over the last week, he was solid and has shown that he’s totally comfortable at international level – pretty impressive stuff for a player who has barely played for Chelsea through his fledgling career.

What that means for his future at Stamford Bridge, we will have to see.
