Chelsea target admits he’s “talking” with club

Gianfranco Zola has confirmed he’s close to a return to Chelsea, as the Blues finally draw close to appointing a new coaching staff.

The former Chelsea hero, who’s been linked with a return to the Bridge all summer, is quoted in the Daily Star as saying that “there are lots of rumours about me at the moment… but honestly at the moment it’s only talking, nothing is decided”.

Zola will likely come in to support Maurizio Sarri, a fellow Italian who is poised to come in from Napoli to replace a third man from the peninsula, Antonio Conte.

It’s taken all too long to sort this situation out, and with the World Cup now in full swing the club will struggle to their transfer business down in good order.

But appointing Zola will be a big PR win for the club, and they can count on the fans being brought onside by that decision, which references the club’s past as well as taking us forward to what will hopefully be a bright future under our new head coach.
