It’s transfer rumour season, but at long last we have a fresh one, and from a good source.
The ever reliable Gianluca Di Marzio has reported on his website that Chelsea are interested in Atletico Madrid’s Stefan Savic.
The defender has been a solid option for Diego Simeone since joining the Spanish team, having earned long spells in the first team along with Diego Godin and Jose Gimenez.
But with those two now pretty solidly established as the boss’ first choices, Savic is apparently interested in cash in on his years of success with a big move.
Juventus are the other side explicitly linked with buying the Montenegrin, who has played in Italy before with Fiorentina.
He also had a brief spell in England with Manchester City, but he’s improved significantly since those early years when he first came to the top European leagues.
He’s a good player for sure, but is that the position Chelsea really need to strengthen?
