Real Madrid set to test Chelsea’s resolve with first official bid for star player

Chelsea should brace themselves for a fresh bid from Real Madrid for top goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois if reports from Spain are to be believed.

According to Football Espana, Chelsea would be set to receive a bid from the La Liga giants who are now ready to test the Blues resolve by making a first bid.

ESPN had reported earlier that Real were interested in signing Manchester United’s David de Gea and he has been their target for several transfer windows now. But now the attention of the Real Madrid hierarchy is to snatch Courtois from Chelsea after attempts to sign De Gea had proven futile in the past.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is said to be very keen on replacing Keylor Navas who has been one of the weak links in his side’s defense and sees Courtois as an upgrade on the aging goalkeeper.

The Daily Mail had reported that Courtois is also interested in joining the Los Blancos as there is where his family resides after his time at Atletico Madrid.

If Chelsea refuse a first bid from the Spanish La Liga side, they are sure to resurrect another bid for their goalkeeper, in a possible transfer battle this summer.
